Sprinters Take Centre Stage

Leevale sprinters were in super form in the past week or so. Cork’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade again featured the Market Tavern sponsored Fastest Man and Woman in Cork 60m dash. Also known as the shortest road race in Ireland, both races had cash prizes for all participants.

Coca Cola Ras na hEireann

Congratulations to the organisers of the annual Coca Cola Ras na hEireann in Dunleer county Louth yesterday. The event was superbly organised, and, together with the bright sunshine and firm underfoot conditions, made for some excellent racing. The course was also superbly manicured, the result of grazing sheep!!

The annual Nike Ballycotton 10 mile road race attracted over 2,000 runners of all shapes and sizes to the east Cork village on Sunday, and the local voluntary effort was well in evidence to ensure everything went like clockwork, which it inevitably did.

ALSAA, alongside Dublin airport was in perfect condition for the Kit Kat All Ireland schools cross country championships. Weather conditions were acceptable, just drizzle and strong winds, nothing like what it could have been!
