There was no shortage of silverware for the Leevale athletes that travelled to Santry for the AAI National Senior T&F Championships. A total of 7 medals, two of them gold, were won today, day 1 of the championships.

There was a massive PB of 15.55 for Denis Finnegan in winning gold in the triple jump. In fact, he broke his old PB on 5 out of his 6 jumps! Gold was also won by Michelle Finn in the 3K steeplechase, comfortably taking the title by a margin of almost 30 secs. Dave Tierney won Leevale’s third gold medal of the day, with a 4.50m clearance in the 56lb for height event. For good measure, he also took 4th in the shot with a throw of 13.68m.

The men’s relay team took silver ┬ábehind Raheny in their 4x100m. Bronze medals were won by Deirdre Murphy in the discus and Lizzie Lee in the 5K, while the women’s 4x100m relay team also took bronze.
