“It’s all systems go”. That’s how Leevale chairman Joe O’Flynn closed the Extraordinary General Meeting of the club, held in Connolly Hall tonight. In spite of being held in the middle of holiday time there was an excellent turn-out for the meeting. The purpose was to allow members the opportunity to give their views on the proposed development of the club’s premises in Daltons Avenue. Consulting engineer Donal O’Donovan was present to answer the many queries put forward, and he will now incorporate the necessary changes to the plans. There was high praise for Education Minister Micheal Martin who was instrumental in getting an allocation of £50,000 towards the development. The new development will now go ahead in two phases. Phase one will see the development of the gymnasium area, which will be extended at a cost of £160,000. Phase two will concentrate on the first floor area, and that will cost £80,000. The meeting agreed to the formation of a committee that will work on raising funds for the second phase.
