Purpose
To outline the policy and procedure for Leevale Athletic Club (Leevale AC) to provide financial contributions to members selected to represent Ireland at international competitions, in recognition of their achievement and to help offset associated expenses.
Scope
This policy applies to all current members of Leevale AC who are officially selected to represent Ireland in athletics at international events.
Events where Leevale AC athletes represent other countries, including but not limited to the FISEC Games, are not eligible for support.
The committee retains full discretion to determine which events qualify for club support.
Policy Statement
Leevale AC is committed to supporting its athletes who achieve national selection. The club may provide financial contributions to help subsidise travel, accommodation, and other associated costs incurred while representing Ireland.
Eligibility Criteria
To be considered for a contribution, the following criteria must be met:
- Active Membership
- The athlete must be a fully paid-up member of Leevale AC for at least 12 consecutive months prior to selection.
- Official Selection
- The athlete must be officially selected by Athletics Ireland (or relevant governing body) to represent Ireland at an international competition (e.g., European Championships, World Championships, Olympic Games, Paralympics & Transplant Games etc.).
- Club Representation
- The athlete must be registered under Leevale AC with Athletics Ireland at the time of selection and competition.
- Contribution Request
- A formal request must be submitted to the club committee using the designated form (see Procedure below), including:
- Proof of selection (e.g., official letter/email from Athletics Ireland)
- Estimated breakdown of expenses
- Event details (location, dates, discipline)

Procedure for Requesting Contribution
- Submission
- The athlete must submit a completed International Representation Support Request Form to the Club Secretary at least 2 weeks prior to the event (or as soon as selection is confirmed).
- Review
- The request will be reviewed by the Club Committee or a designated sub-committee. Consideration will be given to:
- The level of competition
- The athlete’s recent engagement with the club
- Available club funds

- Decision
- The committee will notify the athlete of the decision within 10 working days of submission. The amount awarded (if any) will be at the discretion of the committee and subject to budget availability.
Additional Notes
- Contributions are not guaranteed and are subject to annual budget constraints.
- Repeat requests within a calendar year may be considered but may receive reduced support.
- If an event is cancelled or a supported athlete is unable to attend due to injury or other unforeseen circumstances, the club reserves the right to seek reimbursement of any financial support previously provided.
