It was a good weekend for Leevale athletes both on the track and the road. Roy Fahy was a good winner of the Donoughmore seven mile race on Friday, winning by over half a minute from Cathal O’Connell of St. Finbarrs, with Eamon McEvoy third and Peter Maher fourth. Up in Tullamore, the second leg of the Mazda national league was taking place in rainy conditions, but that was no deterent for David Brosnan. Taking the lead with a lap to go in the 1,500m Brosnan won in a time of 3:57.9. Later he again showed his well being with another good win in the 800m. Taking the lead with 200m to go he was much too strong, winning in a time of 1:53.7. On the other side of the Atlantic, Mark Carroll was back to his winning ways at the Can-Am meet in Montreal, Cananda. Run in very hot and humid conditions he won the 5000m in a last lap sprint, in a time of 13:43.99, almost three seconds ahead of Andre Williams of the US. |
