Crawford and Kelly Impress for Leevale

The Munster junior and under 23 championships got the track and field season of to a good start today at the Cork IT track.  Weather conditions were ideal.  Leevale’s Brendan Crawford had an impressive win in the junior 800m.  He fought off a number of attacks on his front running tactics to defeat Brian Barry from Waterford in a time of 1:58.83.  Michael O’Connor of Blarney Inniscarra came very late to overtake Enda Grandfield of Riocht to win the under 23 title in a time of 1:58.66.  Sprint doubles were recorded by Sharon Kelly of Leevale and Darren Coughlan of Bandon, while Paul Downey of Fanahan McSweeney impressed in the throws.  Patrick Murphy of Togher came late to win the junior 3,000, and Edel Meagher dominated the under 23 throws.
