Irish Results from American NCAA Cross-Country Championships

The final cross country race of the American collegiate season was held today, with the nationals taking place at Bloomington, Indiana.  South Alabama’s freshman David Kimani was a winner of the men’s race by 3 seconds in 30:06, with Arkansas taking the team title again. Keith Kelly of Providence college had an excellent run finishing ninth (30:42) with Dubliner Vinny Mulvey (31:04) also in fine form to be 23rd, giving his school Iona College a creditable ninth place finish.  Other Irish places were; 77 Enda Johnson of Brown 31:51; 98 Dermot Galvin of Providence, 32:04; 110 Ciaran Lynch, Providence, 32:08; 144 Barry Egan, Iona, 32:38; 244 Paul Carroll, Villanova, 35:11.  In the womens race Catherine Casserly, Providence was 163rd (18:23); and Geraldine McCarthy, Villanova was 249th (20:27), while Brigham Young took the team title.
