Cathal O’Connell of St. Finbarrs had a comprehensive win at the annual East Cork four mile race in Castlemartyr today. Cathal won in a time of 20:03, well ahead of West Waterford junior William Harty who clocked 20:16. Peter Duggan of St. Joseph’s was third in 20:33, followed by James McGee of Leevale, James Murphy of Grange Fermoy, Martin Drake of Youghal and Denis McCarthy of East Cork. Catherine Hennessy of United Striders was an easy winner of the women’s race with a time of 23:32, with Mary Sweeney of St. Finbarrs second in 24:03, and Noreen Linehan of Eagle third in 26:19. |
