| After a slow start to the season Leevale’s David Brosnan was in sparkling form at the MAAC conference in New York, recording a good 800/1:55.25 and Mile/4:14.05 double. The efforts earned the Most Outstanding Male Athlete award for the Iona College student. The strong Irish presence at Western Kentucky was again evident in the results of the Sun Belt Conference. Carrignavar’s Valerie Lynch won the 3,000m in 10:00.75, with Leevale’s Claire Gibbons third in 10:14.02, and East Cork’s Terri Hennessy in ninth place. The same trio also ran in the 5,000m, with Lynch again proving best, winning in a time of 17:24.23, with Gibbons second and Hennessy eight. Lisa Cronin of East Cork placed third in the one mile race in a time of 5:16.94. |
