 The 16th annual John Buckley Sports four mile road race again attracted over 200 competitors tonight. Held over the Marina course the race was well organised by Cork BHAA. Billy O’Rourke (Leevale) is easily in the best form of his career and once again proved the stronger in the closing stages to win in a time of 19:53, with Danny Herlihy (Leevale) second in 20:06 and Roy Fahy (Leevale) third in 20:12. they were followed by Josh Palmer (20:16), Cillian O’Tuama (20:21), Jim McHugh (20:23), Tony Archer (20:45), Noel Marshall (21:10), Ian O’Sullivan (21:11) and George Murray (21:13). Mary Sheehan won the womens race with a time of 22:50 from Carmel Parnell (Leevale) in 23:13, and Angela McEvoy in 23:58. Next was Joan Hough in 24:18, Mary Sweeney in 24:29, and Mary Murphy in 25:11. |
