Carroll Clocks Another Easy Sub-4 Mile

Mark Carroll’s build-up to the European indoor championships continued this week with another excellent victory over the mile distance.  Running in an indoor meet in Florida he had a comfortable win over former Leevale club mate Ken Nason.  Once again Carroll broke the four minute mile barrier, clocking 3:57.84 against Nason’s 4:08.65 in second place.  Nason also ran in the 800m where he finished third in a time of 1:54.00 behind Dutchman Marko Koers who won in 1:47.97.  Nason will run as a pacemaker in the mile race at the famous Millrose Games at Madison Square Gardens on 4th February where Carroll will attempt to continue the long winning streak of Irish runners in that event.  After winning the 3,000m for the past three years he will drop down in distance, obviously confident that his speed is well enough honed.
