| Mark Carroll capped a magnificant indoor season when he took gold today in the 3000m at the European Indoor Championships in Ghent. Mark won in a time of 7:49.24, from Rui Silva of Portugal (7:49.90), and John Maycock of Britain (7:49.97). Afterwards Mark said, “I definitely wanted this one. I tried to stay relaxed as long as possible…..The guy who times his attack perfectly to the last possible moment usually wins it. Today it was me!”.
