Carroll Sets PB in Winning Grand Prix 1500m

Mark Carroll today set a new personal best in the 1500m when he won the Pontiac Grand Prix Invitational in Raleigh, North Carolina, USA.  Mark’s winning time was 3:34.91, just inside the 3:35.0 he set in Barcelona last year.  Hudson Souza of Brazil was a close second today in 3:34.97, with David Krummenacker of the USA third in 3:36.15.  Luke Kipkosgei of Kenya was fourth, with Seneca Lassiter of the USA fifth, and Martin Keino sixth.  Afterwards, Mark had to say, “For me, we went out very fast.  As fast as it was, I was just trying to be patient and run a steady race. I felt strong at the finish and went for it. It worked out well. I’m very encouraged.”   Mark’s winning time was inside the qualifying standard for the Olympics.  He has now qualified for the 1,500m, 5,000m and 10,000m.  This time, achieved in his first 1500m race of the season, means that he is now well on target for his agent’s Ray Flynn’s Irish record.  Click Here for Full Results.
