Leevale’s Darren Dinneen was third in the 800m at the George Mason Invite with 1:50.47, while at the Mets championships David Brosnan of Leevale (Iona College) won the 800m in 1:50.47. Former Leevale athlete Ken Nason had his first outing of the track season in the mile at the Oregon invite, clocking 4:02.55 in seventh place behind American Jason Pyrah who won in 3:57.62. Elsewhere Larry Morrissey of Waterford (Providence College) had a PB in the 1,500m at the New England championships. He finished second in his heat with 3:51.85, and later was seventh in the final with 3:51.60. Ciaran Lynch of Limerick was seventh in the 3,000m steeplechase with 9:26.26. Keith Kelly won the 5,000m in 14:17.93, with Dermot Galvin from Clare third in 14:24.05, and Ciaran Lynch 10th in 14:45.03. Emer O’Shea was third in her heat of the 800m with 2:13.75. Kelly also won the 3,000m in 8:17.87. At the Big East championships Ciaran Lynch was sixth in the 10,000m with 32:04.54, while Leevale’s Paul Carroll was 20th in the 1,500m with 3:58.40, behind Larry Morrisssey who was 12th in 3:52..36. At the same meet Emer O’Shea of North Cork was 15th in the 1,500m in 4:40.34. At the Emporia meet Margaret Dannagher of Tipperary was 3rd in the 1,500m in 4:45.43, and Daniel Caulfield was third in the 10,000m in 30:16.3. At the Sun Belt championships Lisa Cronin of East Cork was fifth in the 800m in 2:19.00; her sister Olga won the 3,000m in 10:05.94, with Valerie Lynch of Carrignavar second in 10:07.59; and Caroline Daly of East Cork was second in the 10,000m in 38:08.20. |
