Results from Stateside

As the American collegiate track and field season draws to a close the highlight of the past weekend was the performance of Vinny Mulvey, a third year student at Iona College in New york.  Competing at the IC4A’s championships in wet and windy conditions he again lowered his PB in the 10,000m with a second place finish and a time of 29:03.86.  Mulvey now holds the Iona College 10,000m record which was previously held by Leevale’s Martin McCarthy.  In the 800m David Brosnan of Iona and Leevale won his heat of the 800m with 1:50.91, while Dermot Galvin of Providence College and Clare was seventh in the 5,000m with 14:36.52, ahead of Ciaran Lynch of Providence and Limerick with 14:46.95.  At the Heptagonal championships Darren Dinneen of Harvard and Leevale was third in the 800m with 1:48.45.  At the Southland Conference Jason Foolkes of McNeese and Leevale was third in the 10,000m with 31:17.84, with Ciaran Doogan fourth in 31:25.20.
