Keane Second in John Buckley Road Race

The annual John Buckley Sports road race over the Marina circuit attracted over 250 competitors tonight, with runners travelling from far and near.  From the start William Harty of Waterford set his usual strong pace, with Bryan Keane the only one to go with him.  The pair were locked together for most of the race until Harty got the upper hand in the last half mile, going on to win yet another race.  Keane, just recovering from a bad head cold, held on to second, with Enda Grandfield from Kerry, just back from his first year on scholarship at Western Kentucky, taking third after a good battle with Alan O’Connor from Clonmel.  They were followed by Mark Lehane, Dermot O’Callaghan, Ian O’Sullivan, Philip Harty, Eamon McEvoy and Kieran Ryan.  Maureen Harrington from Kerry had a good battle with Carmel Crowley from Bandon before going on to win.  Niamh O’Sullivan also travelled from Kerry to take third ahead of Joan Hough, Colette O’Riordan, Mary Murphy and Mary Sweeney.  The next BHAA race is the ESB 5k next Wednesday.
