The annual Eircom 5k road race was held over the Marina circuit tonight in cool breezy conditions. Roy Fahy was the early pace setter, with Darren Keenan in close attendance. At halfway, however, there was a big change as Keenan took over the lead. Fahy had no response to this challenge, allowing Keenan to race on to victory in 15:43. And victory was all the sweeter considering this was Keenan’s first win in a good few years. He’s lost a lot of weight in the past few months, but needs to lose another pound or two to get into real shape. Fahy finished second in 15:48, and Alan Foolkes made it a 1-2-3 for Leevale, finishing third, also in 15:48. (Results).
