At the BMC meet in London, Fiachra Lombard (243) of Leevale set a new PB in the 1,500m, finishing fourth (3:49.15). Seamus Power won the 10,000m (28:18.38), which is inside the B standard for the World championships in August, with Peter Matthews tenth (28:48.03).  Other results saw Moira Prendiville second in the 800m (2:05.94); and Freda Davoren second in the 1,500m (4:16.51).  Breeda Dennehy Willis of Bandon had a successful outing in Holland, setting a qualifying time for the World championships.  Running in the 5,000m on a windy night she was ninth (15:15.49).  She hopes to achieve the 10,000m qualifying standard, her main event, on Friday in Paris.  Meanwhile, Robert Heffernan of Togher set yet another Irish record in the 5k walk at a competition in Poland.  Based there for a couple of months on a training stint with some of the leading race walkers in the world, he placed third in the race in a time of 19:07, and expressed himself well pleased with the way things are progressing.
