As the American collegiate cross country season progresses the races are gradually getting tougher. At the Texas A&M classic Jason Foolkes from Leevale was 23rd (27:11); Damien Bateman 57th (28:04); and Gavin Kennedy 72nd (28:19). Western Kentucky were in action at the NCAA Pre-Meet in Greenville, S.C., with East Cork’s Olga Cronin 76th (22:35), and clubmate Terri Hennessy 210th (24:50). Jill Shannon from Northern Ireland was 93rd (22:49). Robert Wade was 50th in the mens race (25:21), and Enda Grandfield 68th (25:34). At the New England championships in Boston Providence College were well represented in the results. The womens race was won by Rosin McGettigan (17:29); Kathryn Casserly 4th (17:49); Emer O’Shea from North Cork 7th (17:58); Mairead O’Callaghan of North Cork and Harvard 20th (18:33); and Rosin Quinn from Waterford 26th (18:46). Clare man Dermot Galvin was third in the mens race (24:40), with Liam Reale from Limerick 18th (25:12) and Patrick Guidera from Clonmel 29th (25:35). And at the MIAA championships in Kansas Thomas Quaid of North Cork was 55th (28:25).
