Leevale was well represented at the All Ireland juvenile indoor track and field championships in Nenagh last weekend, and some excellent performances were recorded by those competing.
Deirdre Murphy added another title to her long list of achievements by winning the under 19 shot with a throw of 10.60m, well clear of her rivals.
In the same age group Aisling Maunsell was victorious in the 200m in a time of 26.16, Sinead Mackey placed 5th in the 60m in a time of 8.54, and Sharon O’Mahony was 4th in the long jump with 4.94m.
In the under 17 age group Donna Hosford had a good win in the long jump with 5.33m, and Aileen Pomphrett was 3rd with 4.98. It was a busy time for Aileen as she also finished 2nd in the 60m (8.12) and 3rd in the 200m (27.10).
There were winning performances in the 4x200m relays, from the girls under 18 (1:47.8), and the girls under 16 (1;49.6).
Greg O’Leary continued his good return to competition by winning the under 17 60m hurdles in 8.78, and taking 2nd in the 200m with 23.68.
Best of luck to all the athletes heading for Nenagh again this weekend for the even ages national championships.
