Good Performances at Munster Seniors

The Munster senior championships were held in pleasant weather conditions at Waterford’s RSC last Sunday, and attracted a good turn out of Leevale athletes.
Brian Murphy has improved considerably in the past year or so and again won the 400m in a time of 48.7 (no sign of the electronic timing), with Paddy O’Gorman second in 51.0.
Jer O’Donoghue won the 100m, but is still a bit short of reaching his full potential.
Ailis McSweeney had little difficulty winning both 100m and 200m.
Paddy Moore again rolled back the clock in wining the javelin – it was back in the 1960’s that he first won the title.  A very close competition with Paddy winning by the narrowest of margins.
Neil Walsh was second in the long jump and third in the triple jump, good performances for someone who has not competed for years.
The Leevale sprint relay team was in good form, recording a good win.  Even their baton changing was surprisingly good!
The other good performance at the meet came from Tony Lilley of Togher who won the 800m in 1:54.0 – returning after some two years of injury problems.
