Jer O’Donoghue sets new Irish record

For the second time in a week Leevale’s Jer O’Donoghue lowered his best time for the 60m while competing at the Munster indoor championships in Nenagh on Sunday.  His winning time of 6.89 is a new Irish under 23 record, and is slightly faster than the 6.92 he set when winning the AAI Games 60m a week ago.  Next weekend he competes at the Scottish championships at Kelvin Hall in Glasgow, and is hopeful that the Irish selectors will select him for the European indoor championships in Vienna in March.
Meanwhile, Leevale sprinters were in their usual top form at the AAI Games.  Aisling Maunsell clocked 8.06 for the 60m, with Sharon Kelly 8.18, and Jessika Zebo 8.18.
Over 200m Sharon ran 26.56, with Jessika 27.38, while there was a 1, 2, 3, in the 400m won by Aisling Maunsell 59.52, Niamh Cremin had 64.82, and Sharon O’Mahony 65.50.  Sean Manning clocked 7.44 in his 60m
Deirdre Murphy won the shot with a putt of 10.02m.  (Results)
