   September 9th 2002. A big welcome is extended to the members of St. Columba’s in Douglas who have joined Leevale. Like a lot of other clubs they found that the people doing all the work were decreasing all the time, and decided to call it a day. It looks like many other clubs will follow suit as athletics continues on a downward slide.Already the Douglas athletes have shown they are very fit and have been impressive in some Open Sports. Chantel and Kai Lyn Ng, Sharon McCarthy, Brian Manning and Alec Daunt are just a few that have been running very well. Other newcomers include Darren Coughlan from Bandon; Darren O’Brien from UCC; Lorna Buckley from Riverstick/Kinsale; and Karl McNamara from DSD. |
