Leevale’s Paddy Moore first started winning Cork county championships shortly after the club was founded in 1967. Last Tuesday he added yet another title at CIT to complete an astonishing sequence of wins. He has now won county championships in the javelin in the 1960’s, 70’s, 80’s, 90’s and now the new Millennium. Surely a feat the will not be surpassed. And in between he runs his own successful business!!
Leevale athletes dominated the championships. Sean Manning won 100m and 400m; Paddy O’Gorman 200m; Darren Keenan 800m and 1,500m; Ailis McSweeney 100m; Sharon Kelly 200m; 4x400m men and women as well as junior men.
And there were also a few minor placings.
The county championships, divided between a friday and a Tuesday night, completes Cork county board’s commitment to senior and junior athletes for this track season. It’s nice to get things out of the way!!
