Leevale sprinters were in double winning form at the Cork junior track and field championships at the CIT track on Friday night. Weather conditions were cold and windy.
Leevale sprinters were in great form, with Carl McNamara and Orla Coghlan each completing 100m/200m double, with Carl also taking second in the long jump.
Sean Casey finally returned to the shorter events, winning the 800m easily from Keith Linehan, and later finished second in the 400m hurdles, although the result could have been different had he not clouted the last hurdle.
Donna Hosford had another good win in the long jump as well as taking third in both the 100m and 200m, with Amy clarke third in the long jump.
Kathleen Fitzgerald added another title to her list with victory in the shot, while Claire McSweeney and Aileen Pomphrett picked up the minor places in the 400m.
Good performances also from Eimear Geary, Colm Lehane, Aaron Hornibrook and Richard O’Connor.
