The British Milers Club races hosted by Thames Valley Harriers at Eton yesterday produced two sparkling new PB’s for Cathal and Fiachra. Competing in the 5,000m Cathal improved his PB by nineteen seconds, jumping from 13:58.5 to a super 13:39.54, a time that gave him second place behind Chris Thompson (13:34.93).
Fiachra finished fifth (13:49.45), an improvement on his previous best of 13:54.58.
Cathal runs next weekend in the Europa Cup, while he also has a 10,000m race lined up on July 5th. In spite of having the fastest 3,000m time in the country this season Fiachra was overlooked by the Irish selectors for next weekend’s Europa Cup.
Incidentally, Cathal’s time moves him up from sixth to third on the Leevale All Time Lists which will be uploaded on this site shortly. The following is a ‘taste’;
Best of luck to Cathal at the Europa Cup next weekend and also to Ailis McSweeney who has been selected on the women’s team for the 4x100m relay.
