This was the relay race of the meeting if not the year to date. Coach Tony Shine pulled off a coup with his team selection. Carl McNamara, not previously know as a 400 meter athlete ran the first leg. Setting off at a blistering pace he set up a convincing lead by the end of the first 200, to every ones amazement he maintained this lead at the end of 400. John Shine ran a strong second leg to hold off the attack by Togher AC and hand over to Brendan Perrott with the slightest of leads. Brendan protected the lead on the bend before loosing it on the back straight, however he fought back on the inside on the home straight to once again hand the lead to Greg O’Leary. Once Greg was handed the lead he was never going to lose it and set up a very memorable victory for the team and club.
