AAI Juvenile Indoor Championship

 Report by Donal

It was a clean sweep for the Leevale boys under 12 in the shot put, Zack Gibbons took gold with a throw of 7.98m, while Daire Walsh improved steadily through out the competition to finally throw a 7.88m to secure silver and Eric  Stam took bronze with a throw of 7.60m.
Derek Duff is in flying form this year over 60m and he had a very impressive win in the U19 Boys 60m. Claire McSweeney also ran well to take gold in the U19 Girls 400m. David Quilligan is jumping exceptionally well at the moment and appears to be setting new PB’s every time he visits the track, on this occasion he jumped 6.13m to take gold in the U16 boys long jump.
Maura Fitzgerald and her sister Kathleen competed well and both came second in their respective shot put events.
Christopher Murnane also finished second in the boys U15 60m Hurdles. To complete the medal haul Rebecca Corbett finished 2nd in the U13 girls 60m and Kate Humphries finished 3rd in U14 girls 60m.
This was an excellent weekend for Leevale and we look forward to April 2nd & 3rd for the final leg of this years AAI Juvenile indoor championships and the relays.
