AAI U14 – U19 Track and Field Championships

A small band of Leevale athletes brought home a very respectful haul of medals from the AAI U14 -U19 Track & Field at the weekend. Kate Humphries on her first outing to the All Ireland secured two bronze medals in the 100m & 200 while successfully reaching the last eight in the long jump. Maura and Kathleen Fitzgerald competing in the shot won gold and silver respectively, while Mera O’Connor finished second in the U19 girls 100m hurdles. The boys also competed well with Edmund O’Halloran, reaching the final of the U14 80m Hurdles in his first All Ireland outing. Christopher Murnane finished a comfortable second in the U15 250m Hurdles, while finishing fourth in the 80m Hurdles.  David Quilligan put in a final jump of 6.03m to secure second in the U15 long jump competition. Derek Duff was in excellent for once again to win the U19 100m & 200m double. While Carl McNamara just returned from injury finished a credible second in the U19 200m
