Leevale’s annual Open Sports in April was again well supported by clubs from far and wide and was blessed by reasonably good weather. The competition was excellent and most athletes left the venue happy enough with their performances. Leevale remains one of the few clubs in the country to promote this type of competition for athletes of all ages. Hopefully the athletes will continue to support our Open Sports, and if they do, Leevale remains committed to providing the best competition at the best venue.
Staging an Open Sports these days is expensive, so full marks, and a big Thank You to all the companies who supported Leevale with valuable sponsorship. It’s great to see there are people around who have confidence in spending their money on athletics. Thanks also to all the officials, many from other clubs, who gave their time and effort to the efficient running of the 
programme.
After some terrific competition all through the day, Derek Duff was presented with the Kevin Barry Memorial Cup for the Best Athlete of the Meet.
