A large Leevale contingent took part in the final event of the Ballycotton Summer Road Race Series, the Ballycotton 5, last night. In a race won by West Waterford’s Raivis Zakis, the first Leevale finisher was the evergreen John Collins, placing 20th overall in 29:10. Also taking part were junior, Denis Matcalfe, as well as Martin McCarthy, Pádraig Ó Dubhgáin, John Hallihan, John O’ Leary. The 5th and 6th women across the line were Leevale pair Claire McCarthy and Nollaig Hunter. The strength in depth that the the club now has on the road racing scene augurs well for the cross country season ahead.
