Ryan Creech is right back on form after a year or two of injuries, and finished a very strong 4th in a competitive Ballycotton 5 miles tonight. Just behind him was James Grufferty, whose finish ensured 3rd in the overall Ballycotton Summer Series placings. It rounds off what has been a successful summer road racing season for both athletes.
Also competing for Leevale were Barry Donovan in 9th overall, Mark Bickerdike, Denis Metcalfe, John Hallahan, Jessica Vonhatten, Damien Collins, Stephen Walter, Batt Kearney, David McEvoy, Thomas O’Regan, Thomas Maunsell, Alan Kelleher, Margeret Bradfield and John O’Leary.
The star performer for Leevale on the night, however, was newcomer Liz Lee, who won the women’s event, and finished 29th overall. Her time was a very impressive 29:13.
The summer road racing season comes to a close next Wednesday – the final evening race of the year is the Togher BHAA 5K which is sure to get a large turnout.
