Derval O’Rourke has qualified for the semi-finals of the women’s 100 metre hurdles at World Athletics Championships in Berlin after finishing in second place in her heat.
Derval got a fantastic start and hurdled impeccably to finish in a season’s best time of 12.86 seconds. Australia’s Sally McLellan won the heat in a time of 12.82. Derval only needed to finish in the top four to qualify.
The fastest time posted was by America’s Dawn Harper in 12.70s.
The next round will take place on Wednesday at 5.45pm, with the final scheduled to take place later that night.
