Great day for Leevale at Killeagh

It was a great day for Leevale at the County Novice, U23 & Juvenile Uneven Ages Cross Country, held at Killeagh yesterday. The total medal haul included both individual and team victories in the men’s and women’s novice events, a win in the BU19 and a team 2nd in the BU11.

The novice men’s event was won by Barry Donovan, who is gradually returning to form after a summer where he was out of action. Triathlete Lizzie Lee, who has been busy winning road races recently, continued her good form over the country with a strong victory. Lizzie’s sister, Rosaleen, who is new to athletics, also ran a great race in her first outing, finishing 4th. Leevale fielded strong teams in both events and both won convincingly.

Ryan Creech returned to cross country action with a good win in the boys’ U19 event, while Louise Shanahan had another strong run in the girls’ U13, finishing 3rd. Karl Hyde in finishing 6th led his boys’ U11 team to 2nd place, while there was a strong run also from Melanie O’Shea-Hyde in the girls’ U17.
