Another win for Lizzie Lee in the Novice Women, 4th for Barry Donovan in the U23 Men, and and 6th placing for Louise Shanahan in the Girls U14 were amongst the highlights for Leevale athletes at the Munster Juvenile and Novice Cross Country Championships, held at Dungarvan yesterday. Also running well were Philip Crowley and Chris Mintern, who finished 8th and 9th in the Boys U16 and Matthew Murnane, who placed 11th in the Boys U12. All four athletes scored on winning Cork county teams.
The Leevale Novice Women ran superbly well overall, with three athletes in the top 13. As well as the individual win for Lizzie Lee, Sinéad O’ Connor showed a return to form in finishing 5th, and Lizzie’s sister Rosaleen McKeown finished 13th. Unfortunately there were no further Leevale competitors in the event, denying the girls an almost certain team medal.
