Tonight at the Raheny Shamrock GV Ryan meeting in Dublin, Patrick Maher achieved the European Youth Olympic qualifying standard for the 400m hurdles. Patrick ran an excellent time of 54.65 seconds, well inside the qualifying standard of 54.80 seconds. Congratulations to Patrick from all at Leevale.
Patrick is the third Leevale athlete to achieve the EYOD qualifying standard this year. Edmond O Halloran and UK based Paul Scanlan have already achieved the standard for the 100m hurdles and 400m respectively. Having achieved the standard we hope that all three Leevale athletes will be selected for the Irish team travelling to the European Youth Olympics, which will be held in Tampere in Finland at the end of July.
