Leevale Athlete David Berry recently competed at the IWAS World Junior Games which were held in Nottwil, Switzerland, 16.-19. July. David competed in the wheelchair discuss, shot putt and javelin events. In the discus he threw 20.59m to take the bronze medal for Ireland. This was a fantastic achievement for David and just reward for the training he undertakes with meticulous dedication. He subsequently competed in the shot putt and finished just outside the medals in fourth place with a putt of 6.24m. He then threw 13.81m in the javelin to finish in a very respectable fifth place.
This weekend David will be competing in the UKA games in Crystal Palace, London. This is a very elite games and it is honour for David to compete there. He also hopes to meet Usain Bolt who will be running on the same track this weekend.
Congratulations to David from all at Leevale.
