DAY 1
There were strong performances today from Leevale’s U13 – U19 athletes at the Juvenile Indoor Championships. The morning session was dominated by the sprinters. Chelsie Wright finished a very strong second in the U13 girls 60m. In the BU13, Sean O’Callaghan missed out on third place the slightest margin, 0.01 seconds.
At U14 Ciara Nalty and Eli Kadi, both qualified for their respective sprint finals, however on this occasion both finished outside the medals.
In the BU19 60m sprint Edmond O’Halloran finished third, just ahead of club mate David Killeen.
Mathew Murnane was the only Leevale middle distance runner competing on Day 1. He ran in the heats of the 600m, qualifying for the final in a very comfortable third place.
Jack Murphy competed in the BU13 long jump and high jump, taking bronze in both of these events.
Patrick Maher won the Bu19 400m in a time of 50.09 seconds.
DAY 2:
Matthew Murnane started the day with a strong run in the 600m final, finishing in 5th place. This was followed by the sprint hurdles – Jack Murphy and Marie O’Halloran finished in fourth place in their respective hurdle races, both athletes narrowly missing out on medals in photo finishes.
Edmond O’Halloran gave an exhibition of hurdling to take gold in the BU19 Sprint Hurdles.
Robert Nagle finished fourth in the BU16 long jump with a jump of 5.70m
