The Cork City Sports Athletics Person of the Month for March has been awarded to Leevale sprints coach, John Sheehan. John, who is also AAI’s National Sprints Coach, received the award yesterday at the River Lee Hotel (formerly Jury’s Hotel), who are joint sponsors of the award along with 96 & 103 FM and the Evening Echo.
Cork City Sports chairman Dick Hodgins noted that most of the monthly awards go to athletes for their achievements, “but to reach their high levels in athletics there are the coaches and club officials who work tirelessly on their behalf behind the scenes”.
“His expertise in sprints coaching has been recognised by Athletics Ireland who appointed him National Sprints Coach”, he added, “and he has also been coach to Irish teams competing internationally”.
