It was a Patrick’s Day parade of a different sort at the Rising Sun 4 miles in Ballinhassig this morning, as Leevale athletes strode home to fill the majority of the medal positions. Lizzie Lee made a welcome return to racing, comfortably winning the women’s race in 23:31, an impressive time over a tough course.
The men’s race was won by Wieslaw Sosnowski of Eagle in 21:16, not far ahead of the in-form Thomas Maunsell. Behind him was James Grufferty, who just pipped Chris Harrington for 3rd position. Others returning to action from Donie Walsh’s group were Jessica Vonhatten and Rosaleen McKeown, both of whom had strong performances.
