Top-20 finish for Ciarán at NCAA Championships

CiaránCiaran Ó Lionáird crowned a superb season with a top-20 finish at the NCAA cross country championships in Terre Haute Indiana today. The championships were held in very windy conditions that only added to the toughness of the race.

The delighted Corkman said after the race that the occasion got to him a little and he probably went out too fast. “I’ve learnt a lot over the past cross country season and am looking forward to competing in the U23 race at the European cross country championships next month” he said. The was another big bonus for him when his Florida State team finished second behind Oklahoma State and ahead of Mick Byrne’s Wisconsin in third.
