The National Novice and Juvenile Uneven Ages Cross Country Championships took place yesterday at the Curragh Camp.
The standard was very high in the Novice events and both Leevale teams finished down in the rankings somewhat. Top finisher on the day was Clare McSweeney, who is home from the US, in 21st position. Next on the ladies’ team was Fionnuala Desmond, back from international masters action, in 59th. Carol Finn was back in 95th, and Claire Griffin 104th.
The men’s team was led home by Tim Twomey in 35th, just ahead of John Shine in 40th. Colm Moore, Dave Comber, and Stephen Walter were 160th, 177th, and 222nd respectively in what was a huge field of runners.
