There were numerous medals for Leevale athletes at the All-Ireland Schools is Tullamore yesterday. In the junior girls 800m Louise Shanahan ran very strong race to take a well deserved second place in just over 2:16.
Luke Hickey’s walking style continues to improve under the watchful eye of Brother Sweeney, he had a excellent race in the intermediate boys 2K walk to take second place.
There was disappointment for David Killeen in the senior boys 100m when he finished just outside the medals in fourth place. However this was short lived when later took bronze in the senior boys 200m.
Chris Mintern took and excellent silver when he finished second in the intermediate boys 1500m.
There were a number of senior events held by the Irish Milers Club in conjunction with the schools’ event. In the 1500m Mark Hanrahan took 4th in 3:48.
