Ciarán Ó Lionáird was in action in the semi-finals of the 1500m at the World Athletics Championships in Daegu this morning and produced an outstanding performance to qualify for the final. In an extremely tight finish, he was eventually credited with 6th in his heat in 3:36.96, the same time as the fifth-place finisher, and just ahead of Olympic silver medallist, Nick Willis of New Zealand.
This is a phenomenal achievement by Ciarán in what is by far his most impressive season to date and we wish him the best of luck in Sunday’s final.
