County Juvenile Uneven Age, Novice & Masters Cross Country

There were superb individual and team performances for Leevale athletes at County Juvenile Uneven Age Cross Country Championships. Kaitlin Coffey ran a strong race in the GU11 event and was winning by some margin when unfortunately she ran the wrong course. This definitely lost her a top medal finish.

Timmie Hennessy lead the BU13 race from the start to take a well deserved win. Louise Shanahan ran a very mature race in GU15, she kicked with 700m to go, pulling away to win comfortably. Luke Horgan had a similar performance in the BU15, running with the lead pack for the first 3K before kicking for home and pulling away from the field to take a well deserved win.

Leevale’s boys U11 team, led by Jamie O’Sullivan, won the team event. Jamie ran a brave race to finish in fourth place, followed by Riain Brennan in 9th, Thomas White, who was competing in his first cross country event, in 14th, and Diarmuid Desmond in 16th. Eoghan Heaney, Tommy Connolly, Daragh Brennan and Dillon Ring all contributed to an excellent team win also.

Team results:
Boys U11 1st
Boys U13 3rd
Boys U15 2nd
Boys U17 3rd

In the novice, Tim Twomey ran well to finish 5th in a closely-contested race, while in the women’s event, Ann Moore and Fionnuala Desmond finshed 5th and 6th respectively, Ann winning the F45 category.
