There were some great successes over the weekend on the national and international triathlon scene for several athletes who have trained with Donie Walsh’s distance group. In Austria today Joyce Wolfe took 28 minutes off the Irish female Ironman record in finishing 7th in the female pro race. In doing so, she ran a 3:07 marathon off a 180 km cycle and a 2.4 mile swim! Joyce was a regular at the Leevale track sessions over the winter season.
Yesterday, at the Irish sprint championships, there were two Leevale athletes on the podium. Owen Cummins finished 2nd to professional triathlete Gavin Noble. Bryan Keane, who is just getting back from injury, finished 3rd.
