Leevale’s strength in depth in distance running is very much in evidence at the moment, and the good run of form continued for Donie Walsh’s crew at the Emer Casey Memorial 10K at Youghal on Sunday. Brian Hegarty was first home for Leevale, in third overall behind race winner Sergiu Ciobanu. Brian ran an impressive 33:11 and is improving with each race. Donal Coffey wasn’t far behind, finishing 5th in 34:23. Tim Twomey, who is only just starting to train full time, was 9th in 35:51.
In the women’s race, Niamh Walsh took 2nd behind Eagle’s Rhona Lynch in a good 39:45.
