Leevale athletes have picked up two of the five monthly awards that were presented at the Cork City Sports Athletics Person of the Month Awards at the River Lee Hotel.
August: Ciaran Ó Lionaird from Leevale AC who had a roller-coaster year competing for Florida State and in the Irish colours at the World championships in Daegu where he finished tenth in the 1500m. He also lowered his best times for a range of distances from 800m to 10000m, and his 1500m time ranks him as the fourth fastest Irishman.
September: Lizzie Lee from Leevale AC whose achievements included winning the 5000m at the national championships, as well as the Evening Echo Women’s mini marathon in September. She is also an elite triathlete.
