Lizzie takes Ballycotton title

Leevale’s Lizzie Lee achieved one of her long-standing ambitions today in taking the ladies’ title at the Ballycotton 10. The race was run in calm, overcast conditions, ideal for running fast times. Lizzie set out her stall early, putting in a fast start and powered home to take the title in 58:48.

In the men’s category, Chris Harrington is back in flying form again and was Leevale’s first finisher in 18th position in 53:46, a huge PB for him. Also running well were Cillian Ó Tuama, 54:48, and John Shine, who ran a very consistent pace throughout to finish in 56:23. Just behind was James Grufferty, who suffered with leg cramps, but stuck in there well nonetheless to finish in 56:38. Along with Lizzie Lee, there were 5 Leevale athletes home inside the hour mark.

Just outside the hour mark were John Hallahan and Nollaig Hunter, in 62 and 65 minutes respectively. It is good to see both back racing strongly again.
