The 61st edition of the annual Cork City Sports takes place on July 17th next. This is a Tuesday evening, a departure from previous years when it was on a Saturday afternoon. Like previous years, the venue will be CIT track, Bishopstown, which is now regarded as one of the top tracks in the country.
The City Sports is Ireland’s premier international T&F meet. It takes on an additional significance this year as a pre-Olympic meet, and its place in the summer calendar, just two weeks before the London Games, should ensure that it’ll draw some top-quality athletes.
The action gets underway at 6 pm. Admission to the meet is just €10 for adults (€15 for stand), €5 for students and OAPs, and children under 12 accompanied by an adult can enter for free. In comparison to other sports, these are extremely competitive prices, particularly for an international-class event; good news in these recessionary times!
